ClareCome to the Edge Life said
They said: We are afraid.
Come to the edge Life said.
They came. It pushed them...
And they flew.
(Guillaume Apollinaire, 1871)

2010

Sending you all good wishes and joy for the unknown of this coming year. Whatever adventures it brings, the challenges, the losses, heartbreak, sorrow or joy - I'm going into it with curiosity and wonderment and a heart full of gratitude. I would love you to come with me, whether we meet or not, allowing life to push us in whatever way we need with a huge YES. In fact it will anyway! So why resist. And I know we can fly.

In 2009 I lived for three months in Pakistan in a culture which was alien and sometimes abhorrent to me. It was also a time of recognising with deep humility the courage of many people who are challenging and fighting ignorance and dreadful injustice and cruelty in whatever way they can, sometimes in a very small way - but always bravely. I watched in admiration and awe. I sometimes sank into a feeling of hopelessness at the impossibility of the task facing the brave ones of Pakistan. But I came to realise in this time in Pakistan that we can only be available and open to whatever opportunity we have to contribute, no matter how insignificant that may feel in the great scheme of things.

Like many of you I have a huge impulse to give, to share and often feel very inadequate in the minute contribution I can make in the face of so much pain and suffering and ignorance. So right now I'm sitting quietly, feeling the joy of the space inside me and also being aware of the fighting, the judgement the anger that sometimes arise in me - and asking forgiveness for those moments when these things have hurt another. And then a voice inside me says "But that's the past and life gives you the enormous gift of renewal, of this moment and the chance to do it another way with a new awareness now and now and now". How generous and forgiving life is. And how important it is to be very tender and forgiving of ourselves.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

2010

SATORI, August 15. - 21.

I am inviting you to join me for six transformative days, to allow yourselves to be touched in your innermost core, and to take this opportunity to step forward fearlessly, with joy and gratitude, into the wonderful celebration of this blessed gift -Your Life.

The group this year is at an old home, Finki, in Northern German.

I'm also continuing the relationship retreats in France as well as the ongoing work in London. And I'm open for whatever may come to me.

Mostly though I'm just enjoying sitting quietly wherever I am with a sense of being available if called upon but, essentially, connecting with all my loved ones - whether I know them yet or not!

With much love,
Clare Soloway

And finally, a quote from Krishnamurti:

When you call yourself an Indian or a
Muslim or a Christian or a European, or
anything else, you are being violent.

Do you see why it is violent? It is
because you are separating yourself
from the rest of mankind. When you
separate yourself by belief, by
nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence.

So a man who is seeking to understand violence does not belong
to any country, to any religion, to any political party or partial system;
he is concerned with the total understanding of mankind.

J. Krishnamurti
